Submissions for 17th festival now open January 13, 2020

Submissions are open for the 17th World Film Festival!

The festival will take place from October 5th to 11th 2020 in Tartu, Estonia. With the diverse and stimulating festival program, World Film Festival fits perfectly into the beautiful town of Tartu - a creative and academic hub in Southern Estonia that was recently elected the 2024 European Capital of Culture.

World Film Festival screens creative documentaries and anthropological films which are dealing with human condition and cultural representation. We value films based on deep involvement of the filmmakers in their film’s subjects.
Each year the festival is attended by filmmakers from all over the world as well as friendly and supporting festival audience. It has become a long-awaited meeting point to all of them.

We are also delighted to announce that in 2020 World Film Festival will happen alongside Visual Research Network’s 3rd International Residency Conference "Seeing the Invisible" (https://www.facebook.com/VRNconference/), this year organized with Estonian National Museum. More info coming soon!
